Annie Thorisdottir might be a long way from Iceland, but she doesn’t look out of place at Mike’s Gym in Bonsall, Calif.
In Part 2, the second-place finisher in the 2010 CrossFit Games learns a less-well-known cousin of the Burgener Warm-Up. The “Junk-Yard Dog Warm-Up” is designed to get athletes ready for jumping and landing, which define weightlifting in the simplest terms.
Then it’s on to behind-the-neck snatch-grip push presses and snatch pulls before Coach Burgener has Iceland Annie brave a cold pool for a bit of therapy.
In between, Thorisdottir explains that while she still wants to go into medicine, she’s currently focusing on CrossFit. On the top of her to-do list, no doubt, is winning the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games. After recently joining reigning champ Kristan Clever at the top of the Open standings after the final workout, Annie is well on her way to doing just that.
