Jeff Tincher started CrossFitting six years ago and is still notching PRs on workouts like Angie and DT. During the Reebok CrossFit Games Open, he sat down with Sevan Matossian to discuss his CrossFit career and how his role is transitioning from elite athlete to administrator as owner of two gyms and regional director for the Mid-Atlantic Region.
“It’s gotten busier, but in the big picture that’s a good thing, you know, because we’re changing the way that the world looks at fitness,” Tincher said.
Tincher, who finished fifth in the 2008 CrossFit Games, is happy with this year’s Open.
“I think every year Tony (Budding) and Dave (Castro) come up with better programming,” he said. “I think last year’s programming was by far the best.”
He added: “I think all the workouts have been a fair test.”
As a high-level CrossFitter, Tincher said he feels the pressure to compete with other elite CrossFitters, but he admitted that maintaining a competitive level of intensity day in and day out gets tough.
“I’m finding it harder to get motivated for the daily WOD every day, but it’s not that I don’t enjoy doing it—I would miss it if I didn’t do it.”
