Based on the outpouring of grief and good wishes on Friday in the wake of former TCU coach Neil Dougherty's death, it's clear college basketball lost a man universally liked by those who knew him best.
Dougherty collapsed and died Tuesday while jogging in Indianapolis, where he was at an AAU event working for iHoops, a joint NBA-NCAA venture promoting youth basketball. Authorities were unable to identify the 50-year-old Kansas native's body until Friday morning.
In his career as a head coach at TCU and an assistant at Kansas, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Drake, Dougherty made many friends and touched many lives. Here's a sampling of what the players, coaches and reporters who knew him had to say on Twitter on Friday after learning of Dougherty's death:
