UNC’s Barnes plays in wheelchair basketball game for charity

UNC forward Harrison Barnes said one of the reasons he wanted to stay in school was to enjoy college experiences that would shape him on and off the court and his extracurriculars on Wednesday would probably fall into that category.

Barnes spent the afternoon playing wheelchair basketball with the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity in order to raise money and awareness for Push America, a charity, that according to its website, is for "... enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities."

Barnes was the only North Carolina men's basketball player that participated, though guards Kendall Marshall and Reggie Bullock, and forward Justin Knox were briefly in attendance before leaving for mandatory study hall.

It's great to see a player like Barnes, who has become larger than life around the UNC campus, play the everyman role and take time out of his day to participate in a worthwhile cause.
