NFL Talkboard: Week 16

Have your say on all the week's big stories in the NFL, plus take part in our Pick Six predictions game

Welcome back to the NFL Talkboard. Most of you will know the drill by now, but for those who don't, this is a dedicated space where people can talk about American football. Every week I will post the games for our Pick Six predictions competition and if there's time one or two talking points as well. The blog will then stay open over the weekend, allowing everyone ? myself included ? to keep chatting about the games as they happen and afterwards on Sunday and Monday.

Before we start this week I'd just like to say Merry Christmas to all the Pick Sixers, I hope you've enjoyed playing as much as I have this year. If you, like me, have already fallen by the wayside in the race to be crowned this year's champion, then the good news is we'll have a whole new Pick the Playoffs competition to get stuck into in a couple of weeks' time.

Until then, though, send some extra festive cheer in the direction of irishgunner, since he was the only one to nail all six games last week. Full standings below the line as always. Here are this week's games.

Detroit Lions @ Miami Dolphins

The Lions finally put their 26-game losing streak on the road to bed last week with that win at Tampa Bay. Can they repeat the trick without even leaving the state of Florida? A Miami team who have won only one of seven at home certainly represents a decent opportunity

Lions to win

San Francisco 49ers @ St Louis Rams

Can we now call this year's NFC West the worst division in NFL history? The 49ers are 5-9, the Rams are 6-8, and yet, with the Seattle Seahawks (also 6-8) widely expected to lose in Tampa Bay this weekend, there's a good chance that the winner here will take the division title. The 49ers were put in their place by San Diego last week, but they won the first meeting and the Rams' quarterback Sam Bradford looks to have hit the rookie wall, throwing five picks and no touchdowns in his last three games. I'll go with homefield advantage and not a lot of confidence.

Rams to win

New York Jets @ Chicago Bears

Rex Ryan ? feet ? is that really an image any of us needed? Perhaps the timing of this story is actually a masterstroke in mind games by Rex, one that will take the attention, and hence the pressure, off his players as they prepare for this game that could seal their place in the play-offs. Or perhaps we're going to see Mark Sanchez getting beaten up in the snow.

Bears to win

Houston Texans @ Denver Broncos

Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow. Tiiiiiiiiim Tebow. Tim Tebow? TIM TEBOW! TIM TEBOW! Wait, is there a game on?

Texans to win

New York Giants @ Green Bay Packers

New York probably can't afford to lose another game, especially not to a direct rival, if they intend to make it into the postseason. Green Bay definitely can't. Aaron Rodgers has been cleared to play but you can bet he'll be put on his back plenty by a Giants defence still trying to work out what happened in that fourth quarter against the Eagles. If he can survive the onslaught, the Packers can survive the week.

Packers to win

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons

The Super Bowl champs have to win this to have any shot at retaining their division title. But I don't bet against Matty Ice in the Georgia Dome.

Falcons to win
